2nd Place in Science and Engineering Challenge
Year 10 Harrisdale students were awarded 2nd Place in the Science and Engineering Challenge against eight other schools from around Perth.
The Science and Engineering Challenge is a national STEM program run by the University of Newcastle and aims to provide secondary school students experiences and challenges in aspects of science and engineering. In addition to this, volunteers at the event are university students and professionals in STEM-related areas and spend time talking to students about their jobs or studies.
On the day, students from Carey competed in challenges such as bridge building, designing and building a bionic hand, designing and testing a Mars rover suspension system, and building an earthquake resistant structure.
