Tiana receives Australian Defence Force Award

Tiana receives Australian Defence Force Award

Each year the College is invited to apply to the Australian Defence Force (ADF) for student awards. At the end of 2019, one of the students we nominated was selected to receive the ADF Long Tan Award.

The battle of Long Tan was one of the defining moments of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War in 1966. To receive the ADF Long Tan Award, a student must demonstrate leadership, teamwork, problem-solving skills, resourcefulness and active community involvement.

It is our pleasure to announce that the recipient of the 2019 ADF Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Award is Carey Harrisdale student Tiana Aitken.

Tiana is a young woman of integrity who seeks to serve others. She has used her abilities to serve both the College and broader community in a number of ways. In 2018, Tiana held one of the lead roles in the College’s performance of High School Musical and in the College’s current production, Oliver, Tiana again holds a lead role.

Tiana willingly engages in a range of community activities and has represented the College as a member of our Athletics, Cross Country and Cheer and Pom Teams. In addition, Tiana is a regular performer in our assemblies, has represented the College in a range of ensembles and is currently preparing to sit her LMusA AMEB exam – one of the highest levels students can attain. Outside of school, Tiana helps lead worship at her local church and has been part of the welcoming team.

Congratulations, Tiana, and thank you for your contributions to our community!
