WA Schools Jazz Festival
Carey Harrisdale entered two ensembles in the recent WA Schools Jazz Festival – the Intermediate Big Band (a band formed this year comprising of mainly Year 7 and 8 students) and the Senior Jazz Combo, both directed by Mr Glyn MacDonald.
The ensembles performed excellently at the Festival and three of our students, Bruce (Year 12), Abbie (Year 11) and Abimofulowa (Year 9), received a very special award for their individual performances as part of the Jazz Combo.
Jamie Oehlers, Head of Jazz School at WAAPA, awarded each student a Certificate of Musical Excellence WAAPA Award. These awards give Bruce, Abbie and Abim a lesson or workshop with a WAAPA Staff member of their choice.
Well done to all students involved in the festival!
