WACSSA Interschool Sport Report

We are proud of every student who has represented Carey at the following WACSSA Interschool carnivals and tournaments this term. Sporting performance aside, our student’s behavior and conduct were second to none no matter where we went. Carey’s values shone brightly through the terrific sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect shown.

Well done to all our amazing athletes!

Basketball Tournament | 9 August | Willetton Stadium

With 83 games played across all groupings, our 51 students had a big day of playing and watching ahead of them; however, they maintained impeccable behaviour. Our Secondary student coaches and umpires positively influenced the group, and we were thankful to the families supporting us. We could not have done it without you!

It was a great day with some excellent games (including very close games against Carey Forrestdale!) Well done to our Year 6 Division B Girls who won!

Our Year 5 Girls also deserve an honourable mention for scraping short of the Grand Final but winning their battle for 3rd place in the competition.

Cross Country Carnival | 30 August | Thomas Oval, Medina

Our Years 2-6 athletes represented Carey with remarkable dedication and enthusiasm. It was a privilege to be part of such an interesting event, where our students truly embodied the spirit of sportsmanship and school pride. We finished a close second overall, just behind Swan Christian College and, impressively, most of our runners placed in the top 20 out of 57 in each year group.

It was thrilling to witness the tenacity of our students, with many sprinting to pass other runners before crossing the finish line! A special shout-out must go to our six medal winners who demonstrated exceptional talent and perseverance, finishing in the top three of all athletes for their year groups.

Heartfelt thanks go to Miss Freemantle for her tireless commitment and the superb training she provided our students (despite having just received a steroid injection in her wrist the day before!) Her presence and encouragement were invaluable. Additionally, a big ‘thank you’ to Mr Chidgzey for his support and driving us to the venue. Your contributions helped make this event a memorable success.
