WA Maths Problem Solving Program
Our Year 8 STEM GATE students have had the opportunity to extend their mathematics problem solving skills through lessons with expert teacher, Mr Cirillo, as part of the WA Maths Problem Solving Program (WAMPSP).
The College is partnering with the The Mathematical Association of Western Australia (MAWA) to deliver the WAMPSP program to our students on site at Carey.
The lessons include open ended questions that require deep thinking. The WAMPSP program does not just teach for the solution, but teaches students to communicate their thought process as well.
Carey staff have been sitting in on the lessons and are enjoying the unique and challenging maths being taught that goes beyond the traditional curriculum. We look forward to our students extending their STEM skills and taking these problem solving skills and strategies into their future years.
