Music Ensemble Festival

Music Ensemble Festival

Recently, Carey held its annual Music Concert, a highlight of the school music calendar.

The Secondary school students came together to present a night filled with diverse musical performances. The All-Star Orchestra, Jazz Big Band, contemporary bands, small jazz combos, and percussion ensemble all showcased their talents, demonstrating the rich variety of our music program.

The concert featured performances from around 120 students singing a mixture of secular and sacred songs. A highlight of the evening was the choir’s amazing rendition of Jessica Mauboy’s “Butterfly,” led by the talented Drea. Students have been working towards this during before and after school rehearsals and our super Music Camp retreat. The camp provided intensive practice sessions and helped build strong bonds among the performers.

This event is more than just a performance. It is an opportunity for all our extra-curricular ensembles to shine. With 16 ensembles, seeing students from different year levels and abilities working together was inspiring. The Arts create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging community where emotions and creativity can be shared, contributing to the development of well-rounded individuals.

Music at Carey Baptist College is not just about learning to play instruments or sing. It is about teamwork, building confidence, and fostering a sense of community. The concert demonstrated how music can bring people together, helping students to grow and develop in many aspects of their lives.

We are proud of all our performers and grateful to everyone who helped make this event a success. The evening was a testament to our students’ and teachers’ hard work and dedication, and we look forward to many more memorable concerts in the future.
