Junior Young Physicists’ Tournament
Our team of Harrisdale Year 8 GATE STEM students and Year 10 Science students had a wonderful experience competing in the Junior Young Physicists’ Tournament during the school holidays, and ended up coming joint second in the competition.
The two-day tournament was held online, with students conducting their own experiments and research, before debating their findings with other teams. The participating schools included Brisbane Girls Grammar School, Onslow College from New Zealand and Pymble Ladies College from NSW.
Overall it was a rewarding and positive experience, with students working hard over many weeks to learn various new skills and acquire knowledge of physics laws beyond the regular curriculum. They also had the chance to meet students and teachers from other schools who had similar interests.
Well done to all the students that participated! We’re thankful for a grant from the Australian Government’s Department of Industry, Innovation and Science that made our participation possible.
