Forrestdale at the Skills Strategies Annual Conference

Carey Baptist College, Forrestdale, was proudly represented at this year’s Skills Strategies International Annual Conference, with Charlotte Shirriff and Russel Montgomery hosting a vibrant stall that showcased the unique and future-focused programs running at our growing school.

The purpose of our presence was clear: to promote Carey Forrestdale as a leader in innovative, values-driven education that equips students for life. Our display celebrated the college’s commitment to hands-on learning, vocational education, and sustainability through programs like Permaculture, Urban Agriculture, and AgSTEM. These programs not only meet curriculum requirements but also inspire students to connect with real-world challenges, preparing them for meaningful pathways beyond their school years.

Visitors to our stall were impressed by the scope of learning opportunities offered at Carey Forrestdale. From the construction of aquaponics systems to student-led composting initiatives, wetland restoration projects and our AgSTEM program, our school’s approach stood out for its practicality, relevance, and alignment with a clear Christian purpose.

Mrs Shirriff and Mr Montgomery were kept busy fielding questions, networking with VET Coordinators and industry leaders, and sharing the vision behind Carey Forrestdale’s educational approach. It was a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of the school’s strengths, build professional connections, and position Carey Forrestdale as a school where faith, innovation, and purpose meet.

We thank Skills Strategies for the platform and look forward to further opportunities to amplify the exceptional work happening at Carey Forrestdale.
