Celebrating Carey Forrestdale Certificate Achievements!
At Carey Baptist College Forrestdale, we are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Year 11 students who have successfully completed nationally recognised certificate qualifications. These milestones reflect their dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence.
Charlotte made history as the first student to complete a Certificate IV qualification, earning her Certificate IV in School-Based Education Support. This remarkable achievement highlights her determination to succeed and her passion for supporting education.
Ella has also excelled, completing her Certificate III in Education Support, showcasing her commitment to making a difference in the classroom.
In the field of business, both Grace and Evangeline have completed their Certificate IV in Business, positioning themselves as future leaders in the corporate world and have begun their Diploma in Business with FEC.
Year 10 student Samuel, proudly obtained his first tertiary qualification (Certificate III in Music) in his area of avocation. Samuel is the first Carey Baptist College student in history to fulfil the requirements of a full Year 10 academic load whilst concurrently pursuing a tertiary-level certification. Despite the added academic workload and the number of unforeseen personal pressures he faced this year, Samuel persisted with an unwavering attitude of grit and tenacity. He successfully graduated from Mount Pleasant Baptist College with a Certificate III in Music and Performance.
Samuel has studied music and performance at ‘Specdrum Health and Music’ since 2021. He chose to fulfil his Year 10 work experience requirement with his musical mentor and friend, Oly Gordon, (founder and principal of Specdrum Health and Music). Sam assisted with the preparation and execution of the end-of-year 2024 Specdrum showcase, giving him the opportunity to expand his industry knowledge in technical areas such as sound check, sound engineering and lighting, and also, in the areas of event management such as rehearsals, promotion and merchandising.
Samuel was diagnosed with Autism and Attention Deficit Disorder at the age of three. Neurodiversity has often challenged Samuel socially and recreationally throughout his schooling journey. But together with his heart for music and Carey’s dedication to making individualised accommodations for their inclusion cohort, Sam was able to overcome these challenges and achieve not only a tertiary qualification but also an emboldened sense of accomplishment and self-worth. Carey’s commitment to inclusivity fostered the extension of both Samuel’s academic and professional development, which helped him unearth and appreciate his talents, gifts and capabilities. It is Samuel’s prayer that his achievements will encourage others to be brave, believe in themselves, and work hard to reach their God given potential.
We commend these students for their dedication to their studies and their readiness to embrace the opportunities ahead. Their accomplishments are an inspiration to their peers and a testament to the strength of the VET programs at Carey Baptist College Forrestdale.
Well done, Charlotte, Ella, Grace, Samuel and Evangeline!
