Pedal Prix Racing
The Secondary School has put together a team of students for this year’s Pedal Prix racing season and last Sunday they competed in their first ever event!
Held at the Driver Risk Management Centre in High Wycombe, the event was the first of three organised by wahpva (WA Human Powered Vehicle Association).
We had one team of eight students from Years 10 to 12 and plan to have an additional team in the next race in Busselton with brand new vehicles.
The competition was an endurance race, where students ride a specially designed recumbent style tricycle around a 1km circuit for six hours non-stop. Our team came 9th out of 12 in the senior school category with 120 laps, placing us 16th overall out of 27 trikes on the track.
Being our first ever we started off slowly, but very quickly the students got the ‘racing bug’ and got competitive with quick rider changes and fast lap times.
Despite the cold and rainy weather, the day was a lot of fun, and students are very excited about the big race in Busselton next month!
