Celebrating Creation Through Art

We’re excited to share the completion of our second mural, now bringing vibrant colour and meaning to R Block, our sports building. This striking artwork is the result of a week-long collaboration between student volunteers and our mural designer, Mrs Cottrell.
The mural draws inspiration from the six Noongar seasons, Birak, Bunuru, Djeran, Makuru, Djilba and Kambarang, each represented by a native plant that flourishes during that time of year. Students explored how the rhythms of nature shift across the seasons, reflecting the land’s beauty and wisdom. From the golden tones of the Moodjar Tree in Birak to the vibrant Kangaroo Paw in Kambarang, the artwork invites reflection on the richness of our natural environment.

At the centre of the mural is a message of unity and divine purpose, drawn from Colossians 1:16–17:
“…all things have been created through Him and for Him… and in Him all things hold together.”
This verse anchors the piece in our Christian faith. Just as the seasons reveal the ordered design of creation, the Scripture reminds us that all things, every season, plant and person, have a place and purpose in God’s story. In a world that constantly changes, we are reminded that it is God who holds all things together.

This mural builds on the creative legacy of the first collaborative artwork led by Mrs Cottrell and student volunteers, which was completed at the end of last year and now brightens the walls of our Library. That mural features a verse from 1 Timothy 4:12, encouraging students to set an example in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity. Together, these murals reflect our commitment to cultivating spaces that inspire creativity, celebrate God’s creation and express the values that shape our community.
We are incredibly proud of the students who contributed to these projects for their creativity, teamwork and thoughtful engagement with culture, nature and faith.
