2024 Governor’s Prayer Breakfast

2024 Governor’s Prayer Breakfast

The annual Governor’s Prayer Breakfast brings together Members of Parliament, emergency services, business leaders, community leaders, volunteer groups, and school students from all Christian denominations for fellowship and prayer for our State and nation.

This year, guest speakers included His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson AC APM, and Michael Raiter, Director of the Centre for Biblical Preaching in Melbourne.

Five Carey students attended the breakfast at Crown Perth, along with Mr Nicholas Lockwood (Youth and Young Adults Pastor at Carey Baptist Church Harrisdale) and Ms Bec Bennett. The students are responsible for leading several Christian groups around the College, including The Core Project, lunchtime Bible Studies, and United Prayer.

Here is Year 11 student Elroy Cargill’s account of the event:

The 2024 Governor’s Prayer Breakfast was a very enjoyable event where believers were able to fellowship together by sharing stories from our walks of faith while eating breakfast together.

Christian speakers prayed over specific groups, such as Western Australia’s youth, which truly changed my insight into prayer. This event taught me to present specific requests to God, to pray fervently alongside other believers and to always be grateful for the blessings that God has provided us with.

Additionally, the Prayer Breakfast was an opportunity to worship the Lord together alongside an incredibly gifted pianist and school choir. After breakfast, we were able to talk to other believers, including the chaplain of the Western Australian Police and a Catholic Church leader, where they discussed their role in the Kingdom of God and how they are using their lives to serve others.

Overall, the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast was a delightful and meaningful experience where believers were able to connect with each other to pray for others and feel inspired by the Spiritual Fruit of Christians to serve the Kingdom.
