Spudding Young Athletes!
In the spirit of the Games, our Pre-Primary students recently enjoyed cheering on their potato ‘athletes’ as they competed in a mash of spud-tacular sports at our inaugural Potato Olympics!
Several dignitaries attended our Opening Ceremony, including The Honourable Carey ‘Head Potato’ Mr Ingram, Mr Caporn, and Mrs Saunders. Mr Ingram led the athletes (and their ‘coaches’) around the track, lighting the way with a makeshift Olympic torch as the official anthem of the games was played (The Wiggles Hot Potato).
It was a wonderful opening to a fortnight of athletic stardom, competitive spirit, and many giggles. Our potato athletes showed their starch as they competed in creative interpretations of sporting events such as Luge, Running, Gymnastics, weight-lifting, long jump and more.
While some of our potatoes sadly did not quite make it to the end of the games, the good sportsmanship shown was very a-peeling!
Congratulations to our medal winners and all our brilliant coaches!
